Regulations require employers to appoint someone to act as a ‘Competent’ person for Health & Safety to act for their business and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and protect themselves from serious accident and insurance claims.

An insurer will assume that a compliant H&S regime is in place and that a qualified competent person has been appointed.

In the event of a claim, the absence of a competent person with the relevant qualifications may well invalidate your company’s insurance cover with potentially catastrophic results for the company, owners and managerial staff at all levels.
